UKIDSS (UKIRT InfraRed Deep Sky Surveys)
UKIDSS DR11 PLUS
Description
The eleventh Data Release of the UKIRT InfraRed Deep Sky Surveys (UKIDSS) from the WFCAM Science Archive (WSA) generated by the Wide Field Camera (WFCAM) on the United Kingdom Infrared Telescope (UKIRT) contains five surveys:
- Deep Extragalactic Survey (DXS)
- Galactic Clusters Survey (GCS)
- Galactic Plane Survey (GPS)
- Large Area Survey (LAS)
- Ultra Deep Survey (UDS)
Each of the five surveys have been crossmatched against our default reference datasets within a 1.5 arcsec radius, nearest neighbor only. These tables will appear with x1p5 in their name in our table browser. Example: ukidss_dr11plus.x1p5__gpssource__gaia_dr3__gaia_source.
See the Data Lab table browser for table names and column descriptions in the ukidss_dr11plus schema.
For a full description of the UKIDSS DR11 PLUS release, please visit the WSA data page (http://wsa.roe.ac.uk/dr11plus_release.html).
Note that we have added the following columns to each of the five tables to improve usability within Data Lab:
- elon
- elat
- htm9
- ring256
- nest4096
- random_id
Data Access
The UKIDSS data are accessible by a variety of means:
Data Lab Table Access Protocol (TAP) service
TAP provides a convenient access layer to the UKIDSS catalog database. TAP-aware clients (such as TOPCAT) can point to https://datalab.noirlab.edu/tap
, select the ukidss_dr11plus database, and see the database tables and descriptions. You can also view the UKIDSS tables and descriptions in the Data Lab table browser.
Data Lab Query Client
The Query Client is available as part of the Data Lab software distribution. The Query Client provides a Python API to Data Lab database services. These services include anonymous and authenticated access through synchronous or asynchronous queries of the catalog made directly to the database. Additional Data Lab services for registered users include personal database storage and storage through the Data Lab VOSpace.
The Query Client can be called from a Jupyter Notebook on the Data Lab Notebook server. Example notebooks are provided to users upon creation of their user account (register here), and are also available to browse on GitHub at https://github.com/astro-datalab/notebooks-latest.
Acknowledgments
The UKIDSS source tables were provided by the Wide Field Astronomy Unit (WFAU) of the University of Edinburgh and originate from UKIDSS DR11 of the WFCAM science archive (Hambly et al (2008, MNRAS, 384, 637)). The UKIDSS project is defined in Lawrence et al 2007 (MNRAS, 379, 1599). UKIDSS uses the UKIRT Wide Field Camera (WFCAM; Casali et al 2007, A&A, 467, 777) and a photometric system described in Hewett et al 2006 (MNRAS, 367, 454).
