Hello,

I am trying to install the Python package Ananke in the NOIRLab Data Lab environment, but the installation fails because a C/C++ compiler (gcc) is not available. The build process for dependencies such as galaxia_ananke stops with:

error: command 'gcc' failed: No such file or directory

Since this pipeline requires compiled C++ extensions (Galaxia backend), I’m currently unable to proceed.

Could you please advise whether compiler support can be enabled, or if there is an alternative compute environment suitable for installing and running such software?

Thank you,
Preksha

Hi Preksha, thanks for reaching out. We currently don't support users compiling their own codes on Data Lab's notebook server. In the future we plan to support custom containers, but we can't commit yet to a specific date.

In the meantime, we could try to install the software for you in our global environment. Is it this one?

Thank you. Yes, that is the link to the package that we were trying to install.
